Community Service, Spartan-Style

Spartans participated in many community service projects throughout Austin in April.

CACHE-IN TRASH-OUT
On April 23rd, a group of eleven students joined Mr. Oberle and local geocachers in a Cache-In-Trash-Out (CITO) event in Pflugerville.  They spent the morning picking up trash along the highway and also found a few geocaches along the route.  Cache-In Trash-Out is an ongoing environmental initiative supported by the worldwide geocaching community.

Daniel Salazar-Harper, Jason Yang, Thomas Wang, Patrick Park, Juan Espada Ruiz, Bryan Rangel, Andy Liu, Oscar Chu, Barry Xue, Erika Komatsu, Leon Yu, and Michael Oberle (faculty sponsor)

CASA MARIANELLA
Ninth graders volunteered at Casa Marianella recently. Casa Marianella is an emergency homeless shelter that serves recently-arrived immigrants and asylum-seekers. The students prepared dinner, dug a drainage ditch, organized donated clothing and toiletries, and visited with the residents.

ST. MICHAEL'S CHURCH
Marshall Dorm went to help St. Michael’s Church with their garden on April 24th. Residential house leader Ms. Lacelarie-Kautz said, “The girls did an amazing job!”

SIXTH GRADERS PACK KITS
Sixth grade girls packed kits for homeless women with Ms. Verderber.

SOPHOMORE SERVICE DAY
Wednesday, April 20th was Sophomore Community Service Day in conjunction with the school's celebration of Earth Day. Thank you for supporting the community!
