International Applicants

Dear Consultants and Agents,

St. Stephen’s Episcopal School in Austin, Texas appreciates working regularly with educational consultants and agents from around the world. Our boarding program has 179 students in grades 8-12. Typically, about 90 students are international from almost 20 countries around the world. Many of your students are on our campus and engaged in the classroom and in the life of the community.

Our application season will start in September and the deadline for the first round of admission decisions will be January 25, 2019. Please familiarize yourself and your clients with our website (www.sstx.org) as it explains the admission process thoroughly. Pay particular attention to the International Admission section. The International FAQs found there will address most questions.

The St. Stephen’s application is available at www.sstx.org/application. All documents should be uploaded through the website. We also accept the SSAT SAO common application at www.ssat.org/sao. Please do not send paper documents through the mail as our school is committed to sustainability. This includes, but is not limited to, teacher recommendations, portfolios, CDs and USB drives. We require SSAT scores (code 6956). While there is not a minimum SSAT score that we look for, the most successful students tend to have a total scale score in the 2000 range. TOEFL (code B078) is not required but if you have scores please submit them.

We accept international boarding applications starting in 8th grade. All applications require an interview. Interviews can be done during a campus visit, Skype, at Initial View, or Face Time. St. Stephen's does not use the Vericant service. Our campus visit days are posted on the website and you can sign up online or via email.

We look forward to working with you and your clients. We encourage you to visit our beautiful campus located at the base of the Texas hill country and 20 minutes from downtown Austin.

Sincerely,

Lawrence Sampleton
Associate Head for Enrollment Management and Financial Aid

Residential Life

The Residential Life program is the heartbeat of the school.  In addition to the things you would expect (like working closely with the Director of Safety and Security, assigning rooms and managing the dorm parents) Director of Residential Life Gene Phillips schedules hundreds of weekday and weekend activities making sure students live a life balanced through academic support, activities, and service.

U.S. News & World Report has once again named Austin as the number 1 best place to live. Students take advantage of the music, culture, technology, higher education, and outdoor activities that the city is known for.

International Student Services

The staff (7 people!) in our International Office is known as one of the best. They take a personal interest in each student and engage them in activities on and off campus. The International Program office communicates directly with parents, assists in all academic matters, directs a host family program (dinner and weekend visits), and plans numerous trips and other social activities on and off campus.
