Spartan Athlete of the Week: Claire Wan, 9th Grade

Ninth grader Claire Wan is off to a blazing start to the golf season. Wan has stunned her coaches and fellow competitors throughout the past few weeks. On Feb. 28, Wan took home first place overall in the girls’ division at the River Place Golf Tournament. She shot 78 and won by two strokes.

Wan also finished second at the St. Michael’s Invitational Golf Tournament on Feb. 14, the opening tournament of the season for the Spartans. With her two top finishes, Wan has shown her potential to be a top player for the Spartan Golf Team. 

“Claire’s performance in the River Place Tournament was fantastic!” said Head Golf Coach Garrett Brustein. “She was put in a tough situation, playing a six-hour round of golf, but she kept focused and put together a great round on a very difficult course. Claire is setting a new bar for St. Stephen’s golf!”
