Spartan Athlete of the Week: Phoebe George, 10th Grade

This week’s Spartan Athlete of the Week honors go to 10th-grade defender Phoebe George. The Spartan soccer team is headed to the SPC tournament on Feb. 10 to match up against Greenhill School. The Spartans have had a stellar season and will strive to move deep into the tournament. 

George has been a key factor in the success of the Spartan soccer team. Her dedication to leading the team on the defensive side of the ball has been incredible. George is relentless and has played hard in the tough moments. She is a young and gifted player with the ability to put pressure on opponents with her defensive mindset.

“A common theme among the results that allowed us to qualify for the SPC tournament was our ability to defend well in high-stakes moments,” said Head Coach Andy Aceves. “No one has played a bigger role in our defensive exploits than Phoebe; she keeps our back line organized and wins big tackles when we’re put under pressure. There are plenty of gifted players in our conference, but for my money, Phoebe ranks up with the very best of them.”
