Spartan Athlete of the Week: LaDarius King, 12th Grade

LaDarius King and the Spartan Boys’ Basketball team have been on a roll, picking up wins in Houston on Jan. 28 and 29. The team defeated a solid John Cooper team and breezed past Awty International to go 2-1 on the triple header weekend. King had a solid performance on both sides of the court in Houston, boasting 12 points and five assists against Episcopal, 18 points against Awty, and 14 points and a season high nine assists against John Cooper. 

“LaDarius is a solid player on both sides of the court,” said Varsity Head Coach La-Mont King. “He carries himself well and is one of our senior leaders. He has really stepped up in his last season at St. Stephen’s.”

The Spartans take on St. Andrew’s on Feb. 1 and then head to Houston again to match up against a tough St. John’s team. The team already has secured their spot in the SPC tournament, but a few more wins mean a higher ranking and seed for the tournament. King is one of 11 seniors who will go on to graduate this spring, so the Spartans are hungry for a win headed into the SPC tournament.
