Marketing Guru Speaks with Model Entrepreneurs Club

In mid-January, the St. Stephen’s Model Entrepreneurs Club, a student organization focused on fostering entrepreneurship and business acumen, hosted Austin-based marketing guru Kate Lowery.

Lowery, who manages marketing and brand identity for a number of well-known local and national businesses, including T-Mobile, Whataburger, LUSH Beauty, Jarritos, and Me & the Bees Lemonade, shared best practices for building and promoting a distinct product brand. She also explained the various marketing and public relations channels used throughout the industry, and the benefits and drawbacks of each.

Her talk was ideal for Spartans interested in starting a small business, needing advice on garnering attention for projects or initiatives, and wanting to explore marketing and public relations as a career. Before ending her remote talk with club members, she advised them to explore more on the subject through the American Marketing Association’s website.

Lowery is best known in the area for leading the plastic bag ban for Whole Foods Market. She also built the HomeAway/Vrbo apartment in the Eiffel Tower. You can learn about these initiatives and more in the linked article, “The Power of Storytelling.”
