Gretchen first came to St Stephen's in 1995 as a Biology teacher, cross-country, track and DCWP coach, and dorm parent. After working at the school for 6 years, she left to obtain her Master's degree in nursing and become an Advanced Practice Nurse. She is board certified as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Adult Health. She has worked in the community in acute care hospitals, private practice, and long term-care facilities in the areas of Internal Medicine, Endocrinology, and Geriatrics. Gretchen has also been on faculty at The University of Texas at Austin School of Nursing. Gretchen returned to SSES in 2006 as a part-time Clinical Nurse Specialist and has assumed the role of Director in 2013. She practices with a holistic approach, empowering individuals to become aware and involved in their own health.
