Ray Carvalho

Raony Carvalho comes to St. Stephen’s Tennis following a successful tennis career at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, where he not only played tennis, but also made the Dean’s List. Raony was a full scholarship athlete who was ranked nationally in Division 1 tennis at #6 in singles and #3 in doubles. He was awarded All-American in singles in 2011 and doubles in 2012 and was “All-Big 12 Player” in singles and doubles in 2009, 2010, and 2011. He was the first Texas Tech player to be named an ITA All-American. In his native Brazil he was ranked the #1 tennis player in all age brackets and held the South America #1 ranking in all age groups. As a junior tennis player, Raony played both Wimbledon and the French Open in 2004 and 2005. His highest Junior ITF ranking was #6 in the world. He was also invited to join the Brazilian Davis Cup Team. Raony comes from Brasilia, Brazil and speaks English, Portuguese and Spanish. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Human Development Family Studies.
