Many in our school community, like other schools across the country, have been following the book turned television show "Thirteen Reasons Why," which deals with the topic of suicide, along with other delicate subjects. Tania Gil first organized a talk for middle school parents, but, given the increasing attention surrounding this show, we would like to open this up to all St. Stephen's parents. We feel as a school that it is important to offer some space, support and advice on both the show itself and tips to talk with your children about the content.
To that end, we will offer two times for parents to gather for a facilitated discussion. For those of you who were planning on attending the Link up Lunch this Thursday, the 4th, this email is a reminder to you. For those who can't make it on the 4th, we will repeat the discussion on the next Thursday, the 11th. The content covered in each will essentially be the same. Please feel free to come to either. If you are unable to attend on either day, we'll follow-up on this Thursday's talk with an email, including resources and ways that parents and schools can address these challenging subjects.
