Food Donations for Families in Crisis

Last weekend while many families were trying to plan their holy season celebrations for Easter, Passover and Ramadan, St. Stephen’s Director of Equity and Inclusion Yvonne Adams rallied the school’s residential families to create holiday care packages for our families in need.

While working with Spartans throughout the last few weeks to gather resources for remote learning, Adams discovered that many families without our school community were suffering food insecurity. She immediately sprang into action, spearheading a drive to provide food boxes and gift cards to families suffering from the fallout of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Numerous members of the residential community stepped up to help her gather much-needed supplies, pack boxes and deliver the care packages to families in our community and to longtime staff at Marbridge, a local nonprofit living community for adults, which our school has partnered with for more than a decade. Care packages included a ham, eggs, bread, canned goods, cookies and some special treats.

“It truly takes a village, and I am thankful to ours for being so caring of those in need,” Adams said.
