Religious Diversity

An Episcopal School Where the World's Faiths Mingle

Interfaith and international, the St. Stephen’s student body learns respect and appreciation for other religions and perspectives. That’s why education on campus is 24/7. Students exposed to diverse belief systems develop tolerance for divergent points of view, an understanding of universal tenets, and a deepened appreciation for their own religious background.

St. Stephen's welcomes students, faculty, and staff from many religious backgrounds and practices. We are a diocesan school of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas, and our daily chapel services are in the Episcopal tradition. However, we thrive on diversity, emphasizing the value and dignity of our students' diverse individual religious practices and spiritual needs. We encourage members of every spiritual tradition to seek clarity about their own beliefs and to honor their own traditions more fully and faithfully in their lives.

Episcopal Tradition

St. Stephen's, a school rooted in the Episcopal tradition of education, encourages and nurtures the inner life with daily chapel, a theology course capping the Middle School and the Upper School experience, and an enduring model of loving community.

The founders of St. Stephen’s intended to provide a “Christian education.” While these words mean different things to different people, at St. Stephen’s the phrase expresses the School’s conviction that factual knowledge is a good thing only to the extent that one has a moral sense of what to do with it and a sense of holy mystery to accompany it.

Our mission is also to "strive for justice and peace among all people and respect the dignity of every human being." We value service to the local and global communities, respect for the earth, and the uniqueness of every member of our community.

Weekly Sunday service are conducted for the residential community and all others who would like to attend.
