Gap Year Fair, Jan. 11, 2015

St. Stephen’s will host an Austin-wide ‘Gap Year’ Fair on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2015. Activities will run from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. A gap year — deferring enrollment for a year once a student has been admitted to a college or university — is a choice more and more schools are encouraging.

At 12 p.m., there will be a panel presentation in the Temple Family Theatre in the Helm Fine Arts Center with four presenters speaking on various aspects of taking a gap year, including one student currently taking a gap year and a parent of a student who took a gap year last year.

Beginning at 1 p.m., the fair will be held in Becker Library. Fair presenters will provide information on a range of subjects associated with taking a ‘gap year’ between high school and college. Representatives from more than 35 different organizations that offer a variety of gap year programs and experiences will be on hand to talk with attendees.

The public is invited to participate in this free educational program, which will take place in the Becker Library on the St. Stephen’s Episcopal School campus at 6500 St. Stephen’s Drive. Pre-registration is strongly recommended at http://www.eventbrite.com/e/usa-gap-year-fair-austin-tx-registration-12606996867.
