Spartan Athletes of the Week: Emilia Fink and John Wells

Congratulations to St. Stephen’s Varsity Lacrosse players Emilia Fink ’26 and John Wells ’26 for earning Spartan Athlete of the Week honors!

Emilia Fink has been a standout on the girls’ lacrosse team this season. She is a threat anywhere on the field and never backs down from a challenge. She works hard to cause turnovers, transitions the ball quickly, and finds the back of the net on attack. Best of all, her fiery spirit motivates her teams to compete every single day. In Tuesday night's game versus Austin High, Fink tallied two goals, five assists, and one caused turnover.

"Emilia is the heart and soul of our team,” commented Girls’ Lacrosse Program Head Emily Walling. “Her competitive drive carries our team, and she's dependable both in practices and in games - rain or shine, turf or grass, wins or losses!"

John Wells has quietly and confidently taken the role as the starting goalie this season. He has been working extremely hard over the last few months and has been an anchor to the team defense. His tough and gritty attitude has earned the respect of his teammates. The Spartans have rallied behind Wells to string together a nice run of SPC wins over the Awty International School, Trinity Valley School, and Ft. Worth Country Day School. Wells has had a huge role in these games, averaging eight saves per game and coming up with some big stops in the last minute of the FWCD game to help secure the win.

Head Boys’ Lacrosse Coach Noah Fink is proud of Wells’ work ethic and tenacity. “John has become a leader on the team both on and off the field,” he said. “He is helping to push the team to improve in every way possible.”
