The St. Stephen’s summer Creative Writing workshop helps kids acquire and develop skills in the craft of fiction writing through interactive group lessons, craft talks and discussions with accomplished guest writers, guided writing and revision sessions, and story-sharing workshops. This weeklong camp is designed to instruct and support participants through every stage of the writing process, from inception to revision.
Each day campers will engage in lessons on subjects like plot, style, point of view and character development; listen to craft talks and lectures from guest authors from the Austin area; participate in guided writing projects to help them generate and revise content; and share their written work with other campers and instructors. The last morning of camp will consist primarily of small-group discussions in which campers share completed works and give each other positive and constructive feedback. The camp will end with a pizza party and reading, providing parents the opportunity to hear their child's creative works from the week.
