Fencing Camp

More information available December 1, 2019
Registration for 2020 will open February 1st
9 am - 3:30 pm (M-Th)
9 am - noon (Fri)

The sport of modern fencing, descended from the ancient art of the duel, uniquely blends the mental and the physical.  Fencing trains bodies and minds, developing fitness, agility, critical thinking and good sportsmanship all at once.  It builds strength, stamina and reflexes, while teaching students to think analytically and solve problems.

During this 4 and 1/2 day camp we will be introducing campers to fencing starting with the basic techniques, rules and strategies and progressing to the real time bouting and an understanding of the sport.  This session is ideal for beginners looking to get an idea of what this sport takes and the fun that fencing has to offer any athlete.

Days will include games, video/classroom time, fitness, foot-work and blade-work sessions, monitored bouting, a buffet style lunch, and swimming to end each afternoon.
Friday we will be holding a fencing exhibition  to showcase the skills our campers have gained over the week.  Parents are encouraged to attend from 10 am - noon on Friday!

All equipment and instruction will be provided by Austin Fencers Club.
