St. Stephen’s Faculty and Staff Recognized for Service Excellence

St. Stephen’s is pleased to announce that three members of our faculty and staff recently were recognized for their outstanding service and leadership.

Hai Zheng Olefsky, Chinese language teacher and Coordinator for the Chinese Studies and Associate Director of the International Program, has been recognized by the Chinese Language Association of Secondary-Elementary Schools (CLASS) for her 20-plus years of excellence in teaching Chinese language and culture. Olefsky will receive the CLASS Service Award at the organization’s 30th anniversary conference in Nashville on November 18. She joined the St. Stephen’s faculty in 1999 and currently holds the Master Teaching Chair in Critical Languages.

Lawrence Sampleton, associate head of school for enrollment management and financial aid, will receive the 2017 Community Service Award from the Austin branch of the NAACP. Sampleton was selected for his outstanding work advocating for organizations and individuals in the community. This award also recognizes his sustained loyalty and dedication to ensuring that Austin residents experience a high quality of life. Sampleton will receive this award at the Austin NAACP Freedom Fund Banquet on December 2.

Paul Carrozza, head cross country, track and swimming coach, was just named the All-Texas Private School Cross Country Coach of the Year by the Lone Star Christian Sports Network. The announcement noted, "Carrozza took a squad that finished 12th in 2014 and guided them to a second place finish in 2015, third place last year, and this year's SPC Championship, dethroning Houston St. John's School, which won the last three years."

Congratulations to these outstanding members of the school community for their great dedication to St. Stephen's and the larger Austin community.
