Community Holds Important Conversations About Diversity

On Saturday, Sept. 23, St. Stephen’s students, parents, faculty and staff engaged in important community conversations about equity and inclusion. The conversations were expertly led by Rodney Glasgow and John Gentile, consultants from the Glasgow Group, specialists in moving individuals and organizations toward equitable and just practices that harness the power of diversity and inclusivity.

Glasgow and Gentile met for half a day with faculty, several hours with parents and the full day with students. A good portion of all three sessions was spent on interactive exercises and group discussions designed to develop strategies for making our community a safe place to have difficult conversations and question institutional practices that detract from equity.

“All participants from the St. Stephen’s community left with a stronger knowledge base that will help our school community tremendously,” said Yvonne Adams, director of equity and inclusion. “We look forward to more of these conversations in the near future.”
