Keep Austin Weird Challenge (KAW)

The goal of the Keep Austin Weird Challenge is to give students more opportunities to get off campus, beyond Westlake, to experience more of what Austin has to offer. This year, groups of boarding and day students ate out at coffee shops and restaurants like Mozart’s, Ski Shores, Bamboo House, Torchy’s and went shopping at places the Mueller Farmer’s Market, South Congress and Pavement Vintage; they visited Austin treasures like the LBJ Library, Bob Bullock Museum, Blanton Art Museum and Laguna Gloria and enjoyed awesome activities together like bat-watching, roller-skating, mini-golfing, paddle boarding on the lake, and yoga. The four residential students who participated in the greatest number of KAWC events over the last eight months were recognized at the last residential community dinner in the dining hall and awarded an official t-shirt: 8th grader Kimberly Kyles, 10th graders Miyako Chen and Yuiko Ishikawa (who is also our exchange student from St. Margaret's in Tokyo, Japan), and junior Jerry Zhang!

Thank you, Mrs. Sweetlamb, for sponsoring this Program.
