Literary Festival 2023 a Success!

On January 25, 2023, Becker Library welcomed a group of talented writers to campus to join all of our students for the St. Stephen’s Literary Festival. Our engaging group of presenters included novelists, a graphic novelist, a sportswriter, a podcaster, poets, writing workshop leaders, and others.

The Literary Festival is a longstanding biennial tradition, featuring a wide variety of professionals who use writing in their careers including panel leaders and writing workshop leaders. Session examples from January’s festival include presentations by historian and scholar Jeremi Suri, faculty member and poet Malcolm Friend, acclaimed Young Adult author Cathy O’Neill, and a Teen Press Corps panel presented by Shelby Devitt, which spotlighted St. Stephen’s students who interview authors and review books online.

The Literary Festival format invites each student to attend two sessions of their choice so that they can spend their time in the most personalized and engaging way. Every session features a student moderator, which offers a great leadership opportunity for each of them and also provides an interesting perspective for student audiences.

St. Stephen's deeply appreciates writers and encourages our students to explore the ways writing connects to a variety of careers.
