Spartan Athlete of the Week: William Schmidt, 10th Grade

William Schmidt, 10th grade, is the Spartan Baseball Team’s starting pitcher and has shown great promise at the start of this season. The Spartans have battled through many games with limited players, but Schmidt has always put his team first. 

In a position that takes a big toll on the body and mind, Schmidt has sacrificed for his teammates and given his all throughout the season thus far. He has made some big plays in recent games.

Head Coach Terrmel Sledge is proud of Schmidt’s efforts. “William is truly a class act,” Sledge said. “He never complains and does whatever it takes to help the team win. I am excited to watch him grow throughout this season as he takes on this important role.”

Schmidt and the team will take on Kinkaid in Houston on April 2 and continue to face tough SPC matchups along the way to the spring championships. Sledge looks forward to seeing his team improve this new season. With great team players like Schmidt, he could take the baseball team to new heights.
