EPIC Teammates of the Week:

Seventh grader Sophia Yu and 8th grader Valeria Gonzalez Reed are our Middle School’s EPIC Teammates of the Week!

 

Both of these student-athletes truly exemplify the meaning of EPIC. They give 100 percent effort every day to be the absolute best they can be, striving for excellence in everything they do. Both Yu and Gonzalez Reed take great pride in being Spartans and want their teams to do their best. They are students with strong integrity, as they are honest, hard working and do not cut corners. Finally, they are examples of the commitment we strive to have from our Spartan athletes — they show up, no matter what!

 

Sophia Yu swam at the AIPL swim meet on Feb. 16. She competed in the 50-yard freestyle, 50-yard breaststroke and 50-yard backstroke, taking fifth in each of the three races. She also swam as a member of the 200 medley relay team that finished second. 

 

“Sophia was a GREAT teammate at AIPL,” said Coaches Quinn Carrozza and Tom Andrew. “She cheered on her teammates in all their races. She had an EPIC attitude and showed up for everything.” Way to go!

 

An 8th-grade residential student, Valeria Gonzalez Reed is a friend to everyone and offers a welcoming smile to new faces. She has been a solid force on the 7/8 Spartan Basketball Team this season and even helped recruit two of her dormmates when her team needed extra players. Gonzalez Reed has a heart of gold and will do whatever it takes to help the Spartans be successful, both on and off the court. Awesome job!
