Spartan Athlete of the Week: Chris Tapia, 10th Grade

Our latest Spartan Athlete of the Week is a promising young Spartan football player who elevated his play on Friday, Nov. 12, in the first playoff game. Chris Tapia, a 10th grader, proved himself to be a force on this team. He provided a solid, all-around game while playing on both sides of the ball and defending the Spartans' home field.

Tapia had more than 120 yards rushing and receiving, two touchdowns, and three solo tackles on defense with three hurries. He was unstoppable and was a big factor in helping send the Spartans to the semi-finals.

“Chris is the future of this program,” said Coach Jay Patterson. “He took his game play to the next level to help the Spartans keep their home winning streak going. I am proud of his efforts this week and look forward to his performance in the semis.”

The Spartans are now ranked 17th in the state and 31st in the nation, jumping nine spots from the previous week. They are set to play on Saturday, Nov. 20, at 2 p.m. in Zephyr, Texas, against the Lubbock Titans. They will play for a spot in the finals and the chance to take home the championship.
