Spartan Math Team Places Third in TXML

For the seventh year in a row, Spartan Math scored among the top-three teams in the state in the Texas Math League (TXML) competition, a series of six mathematics contests given to students throughout the academic year.

Despite competing remotely all year, the St. Stephen’s team took third place overall in Texas. A number of individual Spartans had standout performances, and the top five contributed to the team win. Special recognition goes to 11th grader Eli Meyers, who finished No. 1 in the state for the year after earning a perfect score on the last exam. Other top finishers included 12th grader Carson Murtuza-Lanier (eighth place), 11th grader Michelle Liang (11th place) and 11th grader Ariaan Ghatate (14th place).

Congratulations also are in order for the full Spartan Math team, who gave vigorous performances in all six contests: Hawkins Borer, Jael Dammann, Zoe Ehrlich, Ivy Fan, Ariaan Ghatate, Matthew Kim, Natalie Kim, Ryan Kim, Olivia Korensky, Michelle Liang, Eli Meyers, Carson Murtuza-Lanier, Anish Palakurthi, Cooper Price, Alissa Shen, James Stephens, Eric Xie and Yolanda Zheng. Special thanks to Michael Oberle, team sponsor.
