Villarreal Named U.S. Presidential Scholars Candidate

Isabella Villarreal, a member of the Class of 2021, has been selected a candidate for the 2021 U.S. Presidential Scholars Program. Villarreal was among the 4,500 candidates selected from the nearly 3.6 million American high school graduates in 2021.

Inclusion in the U.S. Presidential Scholars Program is one of the highest honors bestowed upon graduating high school seniors. Scholars are selected on the basis of superior academic and artistic achievements, leadership qualities, strong character, and involvement in community and school activities. A distinguished panel of educators will review the candidate submissions and select approximately 600 semifinalists in early April. Finalists will be announced by the U.S. Department of Education in May.

U.S. Presidential Scholars finalists are invited to Washington, D.C., every June for the National Recognition Program, which offers a number of enrichment activities. The capstone event is the presentation of the Presidential Scholars Medallion to each honoree during a White House-sponsored ceremony.
