Field Hockey Players Honored by NFHCA
The National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) recently honored seven St. Stephen’s field hockey players for their outstanding academic work. Spartans Sarah Courtney, Betsy Goodrum, Kate Goodman, Maya Jhaveri, Aubrey Johnson, Lizzy Jones and Abbie Prewitt were named to the High School National Academic Squad by the NFHCA.
These 11th and 12th grade student-athletes achieved the equivalent of a cumulative 3.50 out of 4.0 grade-point average through the first quarter of the 2019–20 school year. In addition, Jones was named a Scholar of Distinction by NFHCA for earning the equivalent of a cumulative 3.9 out of 4.0.
“I ask a lot of the athletes in our program each fall,” said Head Field Hockey Coach Chelsea Richards, “I am so proud to see their work ethic on the field carries over into the classroom. Sarah, Betsy, Kate, Maya, Aubrey, Abbie and Lizzy all help shape the culture of our program. It’s a privilege to work with such diligent, determined young women.”
