Spartan Athletes of the Week: Cloyd and Cline

Catch these Spartan runners, if you can! High-fives go to Marshall Cloyd (9th grade) and Katie Cline (11th grade), our Spartan Athletes of the Week! 

Marshall Cloyd is off to a fantastic start this season in track, and it is clear he made strides in the off-season. On Saturday, Feb. 22, at the Lake Travis Invitational, Cloyd secured first place at the meet and fifth place all-time for a Spartan freshman mile, clocking in at 4:51. Perhaps more impressive, Cloyd improved his mile time by 14 seconds from just seven days prior to Saturday’s meet! 

Kate Cline earned second place in the two-mile race at the Lake Travis Invitational Meet last weekend. Cline’s early lead allowed her to gain distance from the pack. While she ultimately fell to second, it was a positive showing for an early season meet. Cline finished with a time of 11:39:19 — just one second behind the first-place runner.

Spartan runners are off to the races again this weekend as the team travels to Southwest Parkway to compete in the St. Andrew’s Relays on Saturday, Feb. 29.
