Middle School Winter Sports Preview

Just as Upper School students begin new winter competitions, so do St. Stephen’s Middle School athletes! In fact, more than 150 Middle School athletes are participating in one of four athletic options this season, including basketball, mountain biking, soccer and swimming.

Middle School Athletic Director Kathy Coe said she is excited to see sixth, seventh and eighth graders embrace challenges, engage with new teammates and compete in different sports this season.

At the start of this season, Coach Coe launched a new Middle School Athletic Creed, as a reminder to students that being a Spartan means more than simply putting on a jersey. It comes with responsibility. St. Stephen’s has a rich history of athletic competition, and our Middle School students are the youngest Spartans to carry on the school’s traditions.

The creed includes Coach Coe’s handy E.P.I.C. acronym, which helps athletes keep the school’s core values in mind during athletic practices and games: Excellence, Pride, Integrity and Commitment.

“I want students to be proud to be Spartans - and to let their play and sportsmanship speak for them,” said Coach Coe. “It’s going to be an E.P.I.C. season!”

Check the online calendar for competition schedules, and come cheer on the youngest Spartans at the fields, courts, pool or trails. With more than 10 Middle School teams competing this winter, our campus is filled with Spartan Spirit!
