Spartans Up Their Game in Pre-Season Sports Camps

Student athletes got a jump on their fall season by participating in a wide variety of pre-season sports camps held throughout the month of August. More than 150 Spartans took advantage of the offerings, enabling them to bond with teammates and improve their athletic prowess.

“Preseason camps are a great way to work on team-building and general conditioning and to start the process of introducing team concepts before the school year begins,” Director of Athletics Jon McCain said. “They also give the players a chance to focus on their sport of choice before other school-related activities demand their attention.”

Three pre-season athletic camp sessions were held before the start of school this year:

The first session, held August 5-23, included Saints football, coached by Taylor Stewart; boys cross country, coached by Paul Carrozza; girls cross country, coached by Ben Roberts; girls volleyball, coached by Allison Squires; and boys volleyball, coached by Brian Poppinga.

The Aug 12-23 session included field hockey, coached by Chelsea Richards; and Middle School tackle football for seventh and eighth grade students.

The Aug 20-23 session included an array of Middle School sports, including girls and boys cross country, girls and boys volleyball, and flag football for sixth grade students.
