Becker Library Transformation Complete

While the St. Stephen’s campus was quiet and Spartans were away for the summer, Becker Library was transformed into a modern and flexible work space for the whole community!

 

Thanks to support from 2018 “Make it Happen” donors, our library got a fresh, open and modern look. First, all furniture and fixtures were removed to make way for a coat of bright paint and new carpet tiles throughout. Next, we received a shipment of stylish and functional furniture. The palette of the space is intended to reflect the cool, natural colors of the greenery and hills that surround Becker Library. We also added a few accents of yellow for visual interest!

 

In response to students’ requests for more comfortable seating and quiet areas for focused study, we added furniture designed for placement flexibility and located study booths around the perimeter of both floors of the library. Special new features include a work table/electronics charge bar, Chromebooks for students to borrow, and club chairs and sofas with built-in tables.

 

Our remodel goal was to give each library guest a great, individualized experience and to meet the needs of our community with a shared space that is easily configured for both collaborative and individual learning. Stop by Becker Library to check out the remarkable transformation!
