From Midland Texas originally, Brett grew up in Austin playing junior USTA tennis where he was ranked as high as top 150 in singles and top 50 in doubles nationally. Brett played for Westlake High School where he was the first mixed doubles state finalist. He went on to play at St Edwards University here in Austin where he played for an elite eight and sweet sixteen team and was ranked top 50 in singles and top 10 in doubles NCAA Division II. In 2009 Brett was the Heartland Conference Player of the Year.  Brett began teaching after college for Lost Creek and Polo Club and eventually with EANES ISD and Travis Country. He continues to play competitively in adult USTA where he is currently ranked top 5 in Texas Men’s Open Doubles with Vince Casariego.
