Coach LaMont King started his playing career at Waterproof High School in Louisiana where he earned All-State Point Guard and District MVP honors in 1990 and 1991. King received an athletic scholarship at Louisiana Tech University in Ruston, LA and served as a starting point guard for the 1992-1995 seasons. After graduating, King moved to Austin to began his coaching career at Lanier High School. 

In 2001, King joined the St. Stephen's community as the girls basketball program head, earning two Southwestern Preparatory Conference (SPC) Championships. In 2007, King took the position of boys basketball program head at St. Stephen’s and build a successful program that included three SPC Tournament Championships. King has been named SPC Coach of the Year twice and has won more than 400 games in his 22-year tenure at St. Stephens. 

In addition to his role in the basketball program, King also serves as a middle school football coach and middle school PE teacher. During the off-season, King mentors student-athletes in his Next-Level Youth Basketball Organization. Outside of athletics, King enjoys his role as a faculty dorm parent and loves spending time with his lovely wife, Tamu, and their two great kids, LaDarius and Tamia.
