Student Haiti Club Hosts 2nd Annual St. Etienne Soccer Spectacular

The student-led Haiti Club raised close to $1500 during the second annual 4v4 St. Etienne Soccer Spectacular held on Saturday, February 22. The campus community event celebrated a 20-plus year partnership with our partner school St. Etienne Episcopal School in Salmadère, Haiti.

Faculty, students, alumni and friends made up 15 teams who battled it out on the pitch in a World Cup-style tournament. The chilly day unfolded with a dynamic round-robin group stage in the morning, followed by intense knockout rounds in the afternoon.

The soccer tournament serves as a way for the St. Stephen’s community to stay connected to its partner school in the absence of travel restrictions to Haiti. The funds raised will support ongoing education for more than 400 kindergarten through 8th grade students attending St. Etienne.

The tournament was made possible by the exceptional leadership from Haiti Club co-sponsors Cameron Carper ’25 and Aubrey McDougal ’25, along with upcoming leaders Sam Shea ’27 and Josh Mugo ’27, with support from Dean of Faculty Wallis Goodman, Film and Theatre instructor Mike Dolan and Haiti Club sponsor and math instructor Rebecca Gibbs. The Haiti Club is already looking forward to hosting another spectacular tournament (with better weather!) around the same time in 2026.
