St. Stephen’s World-Class Aquatic Center Nears Completion

Varsity swimmers make a permanent splash on the pool as the roof and walls are erected on the premier swim facility.

St. Stephen’s Episcopal School is in the final stages of building its new St. Stephen's Aquatic Center. Rogers-O'Brien Construction is on target to complete its final three months of work with a planned opening in the fall of 2025. The stunning swim center is a state-of-the-art space that features an Olympic length, 50-meter Myrtha pool and is located next to the campus tennis facility overlooking Lake Austin.

After crews broke ground in the fall of 2024, the stainless steel pool was installed panel by panel. Spartan Varsity swimmers recently toured the site and penned their autographs to one of the exterior panels, inking their indelible support and excitement for the future of the St. Stephen’s swimming program.

The building’s steel exterior is now in place, along with massive steel rafters that were hoisted by three giant cranes, and the roof installation is 95% complete.

The central operation of the pool has been installed in the mechanical room, which includes four 250-gallon tanks that filter the pool water using a pump system. The bathrooms, locker rooms and offices are nearing completion, along with the mezzanine and stands where fans will cheer on athletes in the very near future. Progress continues on the serene back porch deck, offering a breathtaking view of Lake Austin and the 370-acre St. Stephen’s campus.

This transformative project is funded through a generous $17 million gift from the Still Water Foundation and is part of St. Stephen’s bold comprehensive campaign that is slated to launch in fall 2025, during the school’s 75th anniversary year. The campaign aims to enhance every aspect of campus life — from new and improved facilities to bolstered endowments that support faculty financial aid and scholarships, programs and curriculum. To date, the Spartan community has generously committed over $53 million to the campaign.

The entire St. Stephen’s community will be invited to the Spartan Loop and the St. Stephen's Aquatic Center Dedication and Opening, which will be immediately followed by the annual fall Block Party and Varsity games on Friday, September 19, 2025. More details will be coming soon!
