$1 Million Matching Challenge Surpassed: Donors Go Above and Beyond

The Generosity of Multi-Generational Family Inspires Spartan Community.

In February, the Clay family invited the Spartan community to join them in supporting St. Stephen’s by pledging to match every gift made to the school’s comprehensive campaign in calendar year 2025, up to $1 million. Alumni, faculty, staff, parents and grandparents rallied to the challenge, advancing campaign priorities such as scholarships, faculty support and new and enhanced facilities.

With 50 donors contributing more than $1.2 million, we are excited to share that the Clay Family Matching Gift challenge has officially been met and exceeded! The Clays’ vision and the community response are a testament to the power of collective generosity in shaping our school’s future.

“We are grateful to Al and Dona Clay GP ’23, Greg and Martha Clay P ’23 and the members of our community whose gifts strengthen St. Stephen’s for the next 75 years and beyond,” said April Speck-Ewer, director of Advancement. “Thank you to every donor who helped ensure that St. Stephen’s met this challenge.”

This effort generated over $2.2 million in total gifts to the campaign for St. Stephen’s. In the coming weeks, school leaders will share more about the comprehensive campaign’s bold vision for the future.
