The following is a letter from the St. Stephen's Head of School Chris Gunnin, on the completion of the school's 5-year strategic plan, called Spark 2023. Read the full 2023 Spark 2023 Impact Update publication here.
In September of 2017, St. Stephen’s invited the entire community to participate in a comprehensive strategic planning process. Students, faculty, staff, parents, alumni, the Board of Trustees and friends of the school created a bold and ambitious plan for St. Stephen’s called Spark 2023.
Despite our daily responsibilities of operating a lively and robust community and despite disruptions of the global pandemic which required us to imagine new ways of living and learning together, the school remained steadfast in its commitment to becoming an even greater institution. We are thrilled to report that we have accomplished a host of goals and initiatives that are part of the strategic plan.
This publication celebrates the meaningful ways our community has significantly improved our ability to fulfill our mission in the last five years. At the beginning of the process we dreamed boldly. Today, our vision of a stronger St. Stephen’s has been realized.
I am deeply proud of the work that we have done and am grateful to all of the members of our community who had a hand in the planning and implementation processes. Our success is a result of the collaborative participation of students, parents, staff, faculty and all the many stewards and friends of the school. I am especially grateful to the Board for the leadership and oversight and to the goal champions and initiative owners at the School who made sure that our goals were realized.
St. Stephen’s is not a community that rests on its laurels. We will continue to seek out new opportunities that will help us continue to grow and thrive in the future. Even as we celebrate our successful completion of Spark 2023, we are well underway towards defining our next strategic priorities.
Thank you for your steadfast support and commitment to St. Stephen's.
