National Merit Corp. and Corporate Sponsor Scholarship Winners
St. Stephen's is pleased to share the list of National Merit Corp. and National Merit Corporate Sponsor scholarship award winners from the Class of 2021.
Three graduating 12th graders who were named National Merit Finalists in February have been awarded National Merit Corp. scholarships: Linda Liu, Carson Murtuza-Lanier and James Stephens. In addition, a fourth National Merit Finalist, Vincent Moroz, has been awarded a National Merit Corporate Scholarship from Ascension.
The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships that began in 1955. Approximately 1.5 million high school students enter the program each year. All winners of Merit Scholarship awards are chosen from the Finalist group based on their abilities, skills, and accomplishments—without regard to gender, race, ethnic origin, or religious preference. A variety of information is available for NMSC to evaluate: The Finalist's academic record, information about the school's curriculum and grading system, PSAT/NMSQT Selection Index score, the high school official's written recommendation, information about the student's activities and leadership, and the Finalist's own essay.
