Hometown

Dallas, Texas, but I have lived in Austin for 31 years
Areas I recruit
Most of Texas and the Eastern and Southern regions of the U.S.
St. Stephen's is great because
There is a wonderful atmosphere of kindness and acceptance here and a strong sense of connection between the students and their teachers. Students feel safe enough to move outward and explore the world.
Favorite St. Stephen's tradition
I enjoy the assigned lunch tables tradition at St. Stephen's.  On most days, students are required to sit at assigned tables. Attendance is required and is taken by faculty members assigned to each table. Students and adults have the opportunity to share a meal together and discuss topics not related to the classroom.  You will hear conversations about politics, sports, fashion, school activities, trivia...you name it!  At first the students, might complain about this tradition, but in the end they recognize the value of getting to know all the other students and teachers in the school, not just their group of friends.
Hobbies/Interests
Hiking, reading, taking cooking classes, and planning trips.
If you visited my office, you'd see
Flowers on my desk, a photo of my husband and our two children, a ceramic bowl I made at the Fine Arts Festival, and photos of my favorite places in New England, Colorado and Italy.

Office Responsibilities
I manage the marketing efforts for the office. That means I work on all publications, the Admission Web site, ads, public relations, invitations and other ways we communicate with our families. I also recruit students in the Austin area.
St. Stephen's is great because
Our students and faculty make this the most amazing academic environment I’ve ever seen. I’ve worked in the high school and college environment for 25 years and seen literally hundreds of schools. This place is different. The opportunities our students have to grow inside and outside the classroom blow me away. I’ve never seen a more diverse (in every sense of the word) and truly accepting student population anywhere.
Favorite St. Stephen's tradition
Meals in the Dining Hall. I really like that our day students are welcome at all meals and anytime you go in for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, you’ll see many groups of day and boarding students together enjoying really good food a few relaxing minutes.
Hobbies/Interests
I love to exercise. Mostly I run and go to fitness classes. I also like active vacations and college sports - especially tennis.
If you visited my office, you'd see
I’m always working on projects and this generates lots of paper on my desk. There are also pictures of my husband and our two sons - David and Ben. I also keep a stash of candy in my desk drawer - some of it for my colleagues and me and some for my sons who are students in the Middle School.

Oklahoma City, OK
Areas I recruit
I recruit boarding students from South Texas, Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico, all Spanish speaking countries and other international areas. One of my favorite parts of my job is getting into a new city and finding places where the locals eat.
St. Stephen's is great because
One of my favorite things about St. Stephen’s is walking around and hearing many different languages spoken on campus. We are lucky to be surrounded by people from so many wonderful places who bring us their language and culture and make us better people because of the diversity they introduce to our community.
Favorite St. Stephen's tradition
I think our Advisory system sets the tone for the culture here. It is where teachers and students have the opportunity to get to know each other outside of the classroom.
Hobbies/Interests
When I’m not working I like to exercise, cook, play golf, and travel.
If you visited my office, you'd see
I’m a newlywed and have a picture of my beautiful wife Gabriela on my desk. You would also see trinkets from a few of my recruiting trips.

Office responsibilities
I make sure our office runs smoothly, which means I do a little bit of everything -- the routine changes from day to day! My main responsibilities are communicating with prospective families about interviews and visits, monitoring the application files, corralling all of the paperwork that comes in, and taking care of the behind-the-scenes details of the office.
St. Stephen's is great because
It is a wonderfully diverse and vibrant community with a level of commitment from the faculty, staff, students and families that I have not ever seen in a school. Plus, the campus is gorgeous!
Favorite St. Stephen's tradition
The Deacon - the school yearbook. It is truly a reflection of the year at St. Stephen's. Although they have a faculty advisor, the students who edit and design the book spend countless hours compiling stories and photos that will forever tell the story of that year at St. Stephen's. It is not designed to win awards - instead it is a gift to the rest of the student body of their experience, their memories.
Hobbies/Interests
Following favorite TV series, attending comedy festivals and lots and lots of international travel
If you visited my office, you'd see
A print of Snoopy in a Superman costume, seasonal decorations, and all of the application files. All of the admission documents are stored in my office and so are the materials for the SSAT testing.

St. Stephen's is a great place because
It is an amazing school that offers students an opportunity to learn in a unique and individualized environment. The campus is also the prettiest piece of land in the Austin!

I think the daily chapel service is a great way for students and staff to start their day. I also love that the school has day and boarding students so you meet people from all over the world.
