Spartan Athletes of the Week: Meredith Jaime and Finnian Neary
Congratulations to Meredith Jaime ’28 and Finnian Neary ’28 for earning Spartan Athlete of the Week honors!
Sophomore Meredith Jaime has had an impressive start to her Spartan Basketball career, contributing to the team’s undefeated start. Just before the Thanksgiving break, Jaime posted +33 plus-minus, scoring 17 points in 17 minutes while adding 2 assists, 2 deflections, 5 steals, and only 1 turnover in the team’s win over Founders Classical Leander. On Tuesday night, Jaime posted 5 points, 2 assists, 4 deflections, and 4 steals in the team’s 45-34 victory over McCallum.
“Meredith sets the tone on both ends of the floor,” said Girls Basketball Head Coach Dustin Armstrong. “She’s had standout performances in her first two games, and I’m excited to see her grow this season.”
Come cheer on Meredith and her teammates as they face Regents on Saturday at 2 p.m. in Clayton Gym.
Sophomore Finnian Neary has been a standout for the Boys Varsity Basketball team so far this winter. The team is currently 6-1, and looking to add another win at the end of the week. Neary, a combo guard for the Spartans, has keen distribution skills and is also racking up points from beyond the arc this season. In the team’s 59-48 victory over Lago Vista High School, Neary recorded six 3-pointers, giving the Spartans a comfortable lead in an otherwise close game.
“Finnian plays with a fiery joy that is infectious to be around,” said Boys Basketball Head Coach Christian Spencer. “He works hard on his game, and I am so proud to see the results reflected on the court.”
You can catch the Spartans in Clayton Gym on Friday night as they take on San Marcos Academy at 6:30 p.m.
