Spartan Athletes of the Week: Katherine Oehler & Robert Roth
Congratulations to Katherine Oehler '26 and Robert Roth '29 for earning Spartan Athlete of the Week honors!
Katherine Oehler has been an excellent distributor for her teammates in the last few games. Her keen ability to place the ball for Spartan hitters has allowed them to finish points with a hard swing or off-speed shot. Oehler’s serve has been an asset for the Spartans, too. She can keep opponents out of their systems with strategic placement on the court.
“Katherine was a key player in our victory Friday afternoon against Episcopal School of Dallas,” remarked Volleyball Program Head Paula Trejos. “Her serve was on fire, and she helped us maintain leads in the third and fourth sets.”
Oehler and her teammates on the Varsity Girls Volleyball team will travel to Dallas on Friday to take on Southwest Preparatory Conference opponents Greenhill and Hockaday over the weekend.
Robert Roth and the Spartan Water Polo squad traveled to Dallas last Saturday to battle St. Mark’s and John Paul II in the first-ever official games at the St. Mark’s Aquatic Center. The team went 1-1, defeating John Paul II in a convincing 22-8 victory. Roth was a consistent threat on the offensive end of the pool, leading the Spartans in goals, assists, and ejections drawn.
“It was a great start to Robert’s Upper School career,” remarked Water Polo Head Coach Tom Andrew. “We’re looking forward to more outstanding performances from the talented lefty as he helps build the Spartans into one of the strongest water polo teams in the state!”
Roth and his teammates on the Varsity Water Polo team have qualified for the Private School State Championships at St. Mark’s School of Texas on October 10-11.
