Spartan Athletes of the Week: Gus Civins and Arann Weaver

Congratulations to Gus Civins and Arann Weaver for earning Spartan Athlete of the Week honors!

Gus Civins ’28 has dominated at the plate all season, boasting a team-high .388 batting average. Last weekend against Episcopal School of Dallas, the story was no different. Civins went 4-for-4 at the plate, racking up 2 doubles, 1 RBI, and 2 runs scored. 

“Gus has been consistent for us all year,” said Baseball Program Head Steven Elder. “He’s confident and makes great contact - and when do can do that, things go your way.”

Civins and his Varsity Baseball teammates travel for the SPC 4A Championships on Thursday. The #4-seed Spartans will face #5-seed Houston Christian at Episcopal High School (Houston) on Friday at 1:30 pm. 

Arann Weaver '27 has been a leader on the Boys Varsity Golf team this spring and continued that role last week at the SPC 4A Boys Golf Championship Tournament. Weaver shot 159 over two days, finishing just 9 over par. He placed 17th overall in the competitive 4A division. 

“Arann had a great two days of golf,” said Athletic Director Jon McCain. “He’s a competitive force for our team, and I’m excited to see how he competes next year as a senior.”
