Spartan Athletes of the Week: Eleanor Evarts and Austin Ross

Spartan Athletes of the Week: Eleanor Evarts and Austin Ross

Congratulations to Eleanor Evarts and Austin Ross for earning Spartan Athlete of the Week honors!

Eleanor Evarts ’26 has dominated the hardcourt this winter on the Girls Varsity Basketball team. In the last two games, she’s scored 15 points, 9 rebounds, 4 deflections, 8 steals, and a block - all recorded in 40 minutes on the court. In addition, she had a plus/minus of more than 20 points in both games.

“Boogie is the kind of player every team needs,” said Girls Basketball Program Director Dustin Armstrong. “She defends, rebounds, creates, and scores efficiently while elevating her teammates. Her game has a natural rhythm and flow, and that smooth style is what earned her the nickname Boogie.”

Come cheer on Evarts and her teammates as they take on Trinity Valley on Friday, January 9, at 5 p.m. in Clayton Gym!

Austin Ross ’26 has been a contributor on the Spartan Varsity Swim Team since joining St. Stephen’s as a 10th-grader. His year-over-year improvement is a testament to his work ethic and coachability. Ross looks to improve and is ready to make a statement in his senior season. When the team traveled to Dallas to take on St. Mark’s just before the winter break, Ross topped the podium in the 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard freestyle, and 100-yard backstroke.

“Austin was dominant in our dual meet,” said Head Swim Coach Tom Andrew. “We have high expectations for him at the SPC Meet in February.”

Ross and the Spartan Swim team will host the St. Stephen’s Invitational on Saturday, January 24, at the Spartan Aquatic Center.
