Spartan Athletes of the Week: Charlie Navarre and Darby Osborne
Charlie Navarre ’26 had a stellar outing last Saturday in the Spartan Varsity Baseball team’s road game against Trinity Valley School (Fort Worth). He took the mound against the Southwest Preparatory Conference 3A defending champions and held his own. Navarre maintained a no-hitter through five innings, giving up zero earned runs and recording four strikeouts in six innings of play. In addition, Navarre went 1-for-3 at the plate.
“Charlie had great control and command throughout the game against Trinity Valley,” remarked Head Coach Steven Elder. “He dominated the plate with his cutter, and his off-speed kept hitters off-balance all game.”
The Varsity Baseball team travels to New Braunfels on Friday afternoon to play the New Braunfels Thunder.
Darby Osborne ’26 has kept opposing defenses on their toes this season, and her uncanny ability to find the back of the net has added to the Varsity Girls Lacrosse team’s recent successes. In the last three games, Osborne has scored eight goals and recorded five assists. She’s established herself as an essential player in the Spartan’s offensive unit.
“With the ball in her pocket, Darby can sink shots in tricky situations,” commented Head Coach Emily Walling. “She has a knack for finishing or assisting and does whatever it takes to score a goal for her team.”
Catch Osborne and her teammates take on crosstown rival St. Andrew’s on Thursday at home at 7:30 p.m!
