The Department of Learning Services works to improve the academic experience and increase the academic success of students who struggle, so that they might develop a lifelong love of learning. The Department collaborates with instructors and students to ensure equitable learning opportunities for all St. Stephen’s students, whether or not they have a diagnosed learning difference.
The Department also manages the accommodations process for students who qualify. St. Stephen’s mission as a college preparatory school aligns with the school’s desire to respond to students who qualify for accommodations. However, all St. Stephen’s students must meet school diploma requirements. There is no separate course of study for students with learning disabilities or medical/psychiatric disorders.
St. Stephen’s will make the following accommodations available to students who qualify:
- Access to audio books
- Use of laptops during testing
- Extended testing time: up to 100% on tests, 50% on end-of-term exams
- Format provision on testing
