St. Stephen’s was the first coeducational Episcopal school in the United States and the first integrated boarding school in the South. Founded in 1950 by Bishop John E. Hines, Rev. William Brewster and the Episcopal Dioceses of Texas, our school has a rich history of teaching students, of all backgrounds and cultures, to live together in community.

We are a diocesan school of the Episcopal Diocese of Texas, and our daily chapel services are in the Episcopal tradition. However, we thrive on diversity, emphasizing the value and dignity of our students' diverse individual religious practices and spiritual needs.
