Fred Schumm '70


A celebration of life for Fred P. Schumm, 52, of Columbus, Ohio — formerly of Lake Jackson — was held Thursday, May 12, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Lake Jackson, Texas.

Fred was born July 19, 1952, and joined his Lord and Savior on April 30, 2005.

Fred is survived by his wife of 20 years, Elizabeth Munson Schumm, and their four sons, Frederick Munson Schumm, John Underwood Schumm, William Blakely Schumm and Robert Milam Schumm. He is also survived by his father, O.F. “Pete” Schumm; his two sisters, Lucinda Watson and her husband, Geoffrey, Amanda Sims and her husband, Larry; nieces, Jessica Sims and Tracey Burton and her husband, Howard; great-nieces, Shanna Burton, Ashley Hobbs and Shelby Whitfield; great-nephews, Jeremy Hobbs, Cameron Hobbs, Joshua Hobbs and Aaron Hobbs. Other family members who were special to Fred were Cordie Lane, whom he loved as his grandmother, Robert and Jessica Munson, his brother and sisters-in-law, Dr. Frederick and Suzanne Rhodes and John and Laura Comola and children.

Boyd Vance, co-founder of the Pro Arts Collective and prominent stage actor, director and producer, died of a heart aneurysm. Born in Houston in 1957, Vance came to Austin in 1973 to attend St. Stephen's Episcopal School. (photo by Matt Rourke, AAS)

The Right Rev. Scott Field Bailey

The Rt. Rev. Scott Field Bailey, Retired Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas, died in San Antonio on Saturday, April 9, 2005. He has been instrumental in the life of St. Stephen's Episcopal School in Austin and is survived by Scott Bailey, Jr. '70 , his daughter-in-law Alum Director Lou Bailey '71, and granddaughter Katherine Bailey '05.
