Dallas, Texas, but I have lived in Austin for 31 years Areas I recruit
Most of Texas and the Eastern and Southern regions of the U.S. St. Stephen's is great because
There is a wonderful atmosphere of kindness and acceptance here and a strong sense of connection between the students and their teachers. Students feel safe enough to move outward and explore the world. Favorite St. Stephen's tradition
I get such a kick out of seeing Mrs. Respess, who has taught history here for 38 years, riding through the campus in her golf cart on the last day of class. She is dressed as Brun Hilda, and has The Ride of the Valkyries blasting from her boom box as she spears the departing Seniors with plastic trident. Hobbies/Interests
Hiking, reading, taking cooking classes, and planning trips. If you visited my office, you'd see
Flowers on my desk, a photo of my husband and our two children, a ceramic bowl I made at the Fine Arts Festival, and photos of my favorite places in New England, Colorado and Italy. Allison Center
Associate Director of Admission and Marketing
Hometown
Corpus Christi, Texas – The Sparkling City by the Sea! Office Responsibilities
I manage the marketing efforts for the office. That means I work on all publications, the Admission Web site, ads, public relations, invitations and other ways we communicate with our families. I also recruit students in the Austin area. St. Stephen's is great because
Our students and faculty make this the most amazing academic environment I’ve ever seen. I’ve worked in the high school and college environment for over 15 years and seen literally hundreds of schools. This place is different. The opportunities our students have to grow inside and outside the classroom blow me away. I’ve never seen a more diverse (in every sense of the word) and truly accepting student population anywhere. Favorite St. Stephen's tradition
Meals in the Dining Hall. I really like that our day students are welcome at all meals and anytime you go in for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, you’ll see many groups of day and boarding students together enjoying a few relaxing minutes. Hobbies/Interests
I love to exercise. Mostly I run and go to spin classes. I also like active vacations and college sports - especially tennis. If you visited my office, you'd see
I’m always working on projects and this generates lots of paper on my desk. There are also pictures of my husband and our two sons - David Abraham and Benjamin Holt. I also keep a stash of candy in my desk drawer. Jessi Lopez
Assistant Director of Admission
Hometown:
Albuquerque, New Mexico Areas I recruit:
South Texas, New Mexico, Arizona as well as Mexico and Central and South America. St. Stephen's is great because:
There are so many diverse opportunities available to students. They can pursue everything from astronomy, international travel, community service, caving/rock climbing, athletics, musical talents, and so much more... Favorite St. Stephen's tradition:
Class retreats. They happen every year and in every grade. Each year consits of a different activity, location and focus ranging from camping in Big Bend to a team building day in the Austin area. They are planned as fun ways to strengthen the student community so they get to know each other outside of normal school day activities. Hobbies/interests:
I love traveling and photography. Whether the destination is only a 2 hour drive away or an 8 hour plane ride makes no difference to me. I really enjoy a change of scenery! If you visited my office, you'd see:
Photographs I have taken while traveling and pictures of family and friends. Genevieve Haggard
Office Manager

Austin, Texas Office Responsibilities:
I make sure our office runs smoothly, which means I do a little bit of everything -- the routine changes from day to day! My main responsibilities are communicating with prospective families about interviews and visits, monitoring the application files, corralling all of the paperwork that comes in, and taking care of the behind-the-scenes details of the office. St. Stephen's is great because:
It is a wonderfully diverse and vibrant community with a level of commitment from the faculty, staff, students and families that I have not ever seen in a school. Plus, the campus is gorgeous! Favorite St. Stephen's tradition:
I like that almost every day we take 15 minutes to gather in the Chapel for reflection, and a peaceful time away from the hustle and bustle of the academic day. I like that although we are an Episcopal school, Chapel is a time we can celebrate and learn about the traditions of all of our students. The students and faculty use this time to share with each other things that might not otherwise be known, whether that be customs for celebrating their holidays or speaking about issues in which they believe. Hobbies/interests:
Reading, listening to music, watching movies, exploring new places, making crafty things, spending time with friends and family, volunteering. If you visited my office, you'd see:
Pictures of my friends and family, at least one can of Diet Dr Pepper and lots of post-it notes. Libbie Sampleton
